When I read about the research on obesity in boys (Statistics Canada Report) I had to wonder: What if boys were fed the same media images that girls were fed? What if cartoons and videos portrayed boys with finely honed and bulging body parts similar to the cartoons of tiny-waisted-big breasted- huge-cleavage-showing women? Since boys are typically engaged in so many sports than girls, I have to wonder if sitting at the video screens is so much to blame as lack of good physical role models for boys. And better yet: Why do we set such strict and impossible physical standards for females and almost no standards for males? Just wondering.
