Canadians are so complacent and need to tell governments to stop abuse

Canadians are so complacent! Our governments are flagrantly abusing democracy and we hardly hear a peep. Do you know what prorogued means? It means the government decides not to sit in the legislature. For about half the year! This has happened at the federal level and at provincial levels so many times in the last few years I have lost track. And by the way, do you know what an omnibus bill is? It a huge honking bundle of detailed statutes and regulations that impact all of us. Governments (like Stephen Harper’s) who want to limit all conversation intentionally bundle these proposed new laws into one huge package so no one can adequately read, critique or debate it. I am okay with an elected government who may have different values than me. I just cannot tolerate abuse of power. We need to speak up!
