I recently saw a documentary on Bratz dolls (those huge headed make-up heavy fashion dolls) that showed the negative impact of dolls on girls’ self esteem. Ten year old girls were interviewed and said they felt that their heads were too small! Really. Although this might sound absurd, the toy industry has always impacted girls self esteem. Mothers buy dolls for girls totally unaware of the subconscious harm. Although I am pleased to say that the Bratz replacement (Liv dolls) have smaller heads, mothers need to stop buying dolls with heavy makeup, odd body shapes and high fashion unless they are ready for the sad consequences on their daughters self esteem, not to mention their propensity to shop!
No More Bratz Dolls, Sort Of
