My husband was surprised (rare) when I told him that soldiers are educated and directed to use rape as a strategy of war. In fact pouring melted rubber down a woman’s vagina has become core military strategy. Soldiers are told that because women are seen as possessions of the husbands, rape “kills two birds with one stone.” It terrorizes women, so they beg their husbands to back down and it deeply shames the men.
