This great TED talk by Sir Ken Robinson urges us to shift our whole concept about how we educate children. He suggests that the current educational system with its strict hierarchy of subjects – math, languages, humanities and arts in that order – miss huge chunks of what children need to be creative and adapt to this ever-changing world. He says that we are educating only the left side of the brain and this is outdated. We should instead be helping children reach their full creative potential and educate the whole person, rather than academic merit. This includes teaching dance, music, abstract concepts etc. or the whole child.

The right idea shared at the right time can change the world
