Things are getting worse for the Missing Woman Commission who is looking into why the murderer (Pickton) of so many sex trade workers was not caught sooner. Recently some former (note they are not current!) staff working working on the inquiry alleged sexist attitudes by certain male staff. So the head (Wally Oppal) decided to appoint Delayne Sartison, a seasoned lawyer and expert in harassment to investigate. Good idea. However, although the lawyers all shocked by the allegations it reminds me how sexism is the elephant, even in inquiries where it is the very thing being investigated! Given the heirarchies in any institution, it comes as no surprise to me that noone talks about sexism until they quit their job. Untill they feel safe enough to speak.
