New research shows we are born empathetic. It disproves years of backward thinking about human kind and makes us really re-think things. Professor Frans deWaal of Emory University of Atlanta has debunked hundreds of years of research that suggested that humans are nasty and that morality was only a learned (shallow) behaviour. He looked at monkeys and rats are discovered that they have natural tendencies for reciprocity, fairness, empathy and consolation. In other words they look out for and help each other out, without any particular conditioning. So it makes me wonder if the intense competition on which our capitalistic economic and political systems are built should be re-designed on a more human and I might add, feminine, footing.
