You must read the article by Anne Theriault about her take on the sicide of a girl who was gang raped a year prior. To quote her: “Where were the f##ing grownups who promised to take care of her?” We are all to blame for Rehtaeh Parson’s Suicide” Go to: http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/anne-theriault-/rehtaeh-parsons-dead_b_3046999.html.
Okay enough! Hot off the fashion ramps: Running shoes for young girls that have heels hidden inside! You have to be kidding. I am sure that boys do not have the same shoe fashion. Why on earth would anyone want their young girls to fall more often, walk weirdly and harm their legs and feet
Girls Action Foundation just published a report showing that Canadian girls still grapple with self-harm, violence, harassment and negative body image. Apparently teen girls are using more drugs and alcohol than they have in the past decade. Girls aged 10-14 are 14 times more likley than boys to end up in hospital for trying to commit
I watched the U-Tube video by Dr Shefali Tsabary on conscious parenting. She was in Vancouver this week. I agree with her when she says that parenting involves being more conscious. It sure does. And I am urged to wake up every day by my daughters. But the focus on parenting reminds me that we place
I have been writing 2 books on advancing women and girls for over four years now. It just occured to me that if I really wanted to get all my ideas out to the world quickly it would be better to write 8-10 smaller practical ebooks than 2 big hardcover books. So I recently chunked my

Recent research shows that fathers who do not wash dishes or do laundry tend to raise “girlie girls.” (their words not mine). UBC psychologist Toni Schmader found that girls with fathers with more egalitarian attitudes about child care, cooking and cleaning are more likely to grow up and work outside the home (for pay) and not
It just shows how far women have to go. A year ago a 16 year old Moroccan girl was forced to marry a man who raped her. Jut recently the government of Morocco decided to change the law so women could not be forced into marriage. This traditional practice is still found across the Middle East, sadly.

I just read about the new play “Leave of Absence” directed by Lucia Frangione. It is playing in Vancouver BC until February 16 at the Pacific Theatre (www.pacifictheatre.org). It apparently tackles teen bullying, sexuality and religion through the eyes of a 15 year old girl. I think I will go see it. [Source: Vancouver Sun, Mark
